Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of Steady Craftsman. By creating an account, submitting a project, applying as a contractor, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
Steady Craftsman provides assistant support for local craftsmen and homeowners. We help gather project details, support communication, and coordinate scheduling while the actual work, materials, warranties, pricing, and payment terms remain between the homeowner and the craftsman.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract under California law. By using the service you confirm that you meet this requirement.
3. Accounts
You agree to provide accurate information, keep your sign-in credentials confidential, and notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity on your account.
4. Homeowner terms
- You may submit a project request describing work you need. Steady Craftsman may help a reviewed craftsman who serves your area review the request and timing.
- Estimates, schedules, and invoices are issued by the craftsman, not Steady Craftsman. Approval of an estimate creates a direct contract between you and the craftsman.
- Payment is owed to the craftsman directly upon completion of the work, unless the craftsman has stated different terms in writing. Each craftsman accepts their own payment methods (cash, check, ACH, or card) and Steady Craftsman does not currently process payments on the craftsman's behalf.
- You agree not to misuse the service — including spam, abusive language toward craftsmen or staff, or attempts to circumvent our trust-and-safety controls.
5. Craftsman terms
- You agree to maintain valid licensing, insurance, and bonding required for your trade in the jurisdictions you serve.
- You agree to perform work safely, in compliance with applicable codes, and in line with the estimate you sent the homeowner.
- You will not solicit homeowners outside the Steady Craftsman process for work first introduced through Steady Craftsman during the active engagement.
- Steady Craftsman may suspend or remove your account for repeated complaints, missed appointments, license lapses, or violations of these Terms.
6. Fees
Any Steady Craftsman fees owed by a craftsman, if applicable, are described in that craftsman's agreement. We do not charge homeowners a fee to submit a project or receive estimates.
7. Content you upload
You retain ownership of photos, videos, documents, descriptions, and messages you upload. You grant Steady Craftsman a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, and display this content as needed to provide the service. You represent that you have the rights necessary to grant this licence.
8. Intellectual property
Steady Craftsman's name, logo, software, and content are owned by Steady Craftsman and are protected by U.S. and international intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the service without our written permission.
9. Disclaimers
Steady Craftsman provides the service "as is" and "as available." We make no warranty that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we do not warrant the work performed by craftsmen. Use of the service is at your own risk to the maximum extent permitted by law.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by California law, Steady Craftsman, its officers, and its employees will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Our total cumulative liability will not exceed (i) US $500 or (ii) the fees you paid Steady Craftsman in the twelve months before the claim, whichever is greater.
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Steady Craftsman harmless from claims arising out of your use of the service, your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of others' rights.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Joaquin County, California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on the service and, where required by law, communicated by email. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
